Choosing the right table is a major beginner strategy for poker beginners.
Taking a seat at the wrong table can easily be the deciding factor on whether you will have a winning streak or a losing one. Though it is difficult there are ways to pick out online tables more suited for beginners though unfortunately the players don’t wear signs that say “I’m a fish” or “I’m a shark”.
The best kind of table for a beginner is one in which there is a loose betting game, they’ll have a high chance to win and play their own game. Generally there is not a lot of aggressive betting, but many players will be seeing the flop. The end result will be larger pots and more bad beats overall.
You should check out three things when choosing a table. The first thing to watch after the flop is the number of overall players that are still in the hand. When dealing with online poker rooms, you just have to know the right place to look to find this statistic. A high percentage is ideal. Anything over 35% should be concidered high. In that case you would have what is called a loose table. The next thing that you must do is look at the average pot size. To be appealing, this should generally be at least 12 times the small blind. Trying to recognize weak players should be the third thing you look for when selecting a table. Notes on your opponents if you take online notes. (and you should)If you’re lucky, you’ll spot a few of your known weak players seated at the same table. Please sit down if they do.
